I Forgot How Long This Takes

Standard

See those stitches up there? It took me about 3 hours of work to do that! Of course, some of that was because I haven’t done any cross stitching for over 14 years, and I needed to remind myself how to read a pattern. Some of it was because I let the floss get knotted once and I had to cut it out, pull out some stitches and fix my mistake. In other words, it will begin to go more quickly now that I am getting back in the swing of things. But this project is going to take me a while, I think.

In related news, I want to start a crafting group. I want to have people to talk to while I stitch, or people to come up with ideas for new projects (in my copious amounts of free time that need to be filled, 😉 ), people who understand why I like doing this stuff. I don’t care if I meet with people who are doing the same kind of craft that I am doing at any given time, I just want to hang out with other crafters while I work on my projects. Any suggestions on starting a group? Anyone local want to do crafts with me?

  1. You know – I’d love to, but I don’t want to commit and not have any time to actually participate. Although it might get me to pick up one of the approximate 742 knitting projects I have lying around. Since beads don’t travel well, it would have to be either knitting or crocheting for me.

  2. How about I just invite you if I do have a crafting night, but no commitment to make it all the time? If we do it here, you could probably bring some beads and do it at the dining room table–I would love to see how you do your beading, your jewelry always turns out so beautifully! Also, I didn’t know you did knitting and crocheting!
